Amanda Augusto Castanho, Mandoca, is a 2020 Parsons School of Design BFA Fashion Design graduate. Mandoca creates genderless designs with great sensibility to prints, embroidery and the use of bold colour combinations. Her design method is research based, where she translates concepts into her own design language by using cultural references to address global, yet personal, messages in a playful and light-hearted way.
Mandoca was born and raised in Manaus, Brazil, a special place that she refers throughout her work. She is currently based in Paris, France seeking opportunities in Europe as print designer, digital illustrator and collection assistant.
In the future she would like to develop new approaches to sustainable fashion and deepen her knowledge in textile printing techniques as well as knitwear design.
